About Vanessa

I create sacred portals — paintings that invite a remembering of wholeness through color, form, and feeling.

Born in Aotearoa New Zealand in 1987, I’ve been painting for as long as I can remember. From an early age, art felt like a natural language for expressing what couldn’t be spoken, a bridge between inner and outer worlds. During high school, I discovered the visionary and surrealist painters who inspired me to capture the dream realm in image and form. Their work mirrored what I felt inside, that there is more to this life than meets the eye.

In my adult years, I studied the Mischtechnik, a layered oil painting method passed down through the visionary art lineage, revised from the techniques of the old masters. Through this process, I found a way to give form to dreams, archetypes, spirit, and the emotional landscapes of transformation.

Each painting is created with intention. These works are more than images, they act as portals. By this, I mean they open a subtle doorway into an inner experience. They invite the viewer to pause, feel, and perhaps remember something ancient and true within themselves. The use of sacred geometry, symbolic elements, and light-infused forms speaks to a deeper knowing, one that lives in all of us. Often guided by visions, dreams, or awakenings in my own life, my art reflects an ongoing exploration of what it means to be a soul here in these times. I paint to offer beauty, resonance, and healing. I hope that each piece can serve as a mirror, an invitation, or simply a place to rest and reconnect.

I currently live and create from my studio in the Tasman region, at the top of New Zealand’s South Island.
